Growing in Unity 2023 - Day 2
Today I’m showcasing some mixed media style cards and tags using the Unity Stamp Company Planner Gal stamp series, along with a few others.
I never truly have a plan for these! My method is the art room version of the dumpster dive… I collect bits in a large tub and rummage through as I go.
Coloring is very relaxing for me, and using bright bold colors makes my heart so happy. Often when I travel, I bring bits to work on, along with watercolor pencils and a water brush. They don’t take much space, and it’s nice to have something in case I need to fill time!
Did you know that “the bits” have a name? I didn’t until recently. Turns out, it’s fodder. I always thought it was horse feed…which it is, but it’s also a name of a collection of artsy pieces. Who knew!?
This final tag uses the “Days Like This” stamp by the fabulous Angie Blom and is created using a piece of canvas paper that I painted as the base.
The cards featured earlier in this post use pre-made bases that I decorate. I love using inspirational words, and sometimes snarky sentiments by Tim Holtz show up, too. The heart was created using a 3D Impresslit by Sizzix, that is sadly no longer being made. The beauty sentiment is part of the phrase “Beauty is Within” - also from a unity set, and a few other bits even came from a teabag ❤️
I hope these have inspired you to make your own tags or bookmarks. Use those artsy bits and stay happy!
