Growing in Unity 2023 - Day 1

I am so excited to be back on the Unity Stamp Company Facebook group this week as the featured artist! Today’s cards feature owls, and I loved making these cards!

The Unity Stamp Company stamp sets used include: WooHoo Owl and Freakin’ Adorable from the Itty Bitty Stamps collection and Owl Pals by Angie Blom.

Owl Pals and Freakin’ Adorable

The images for all of the cards were stamped with archival ink and heat embossed using clear embossing powder. Then, I used distress watercolor pencils that I placed into a palette to be used like a pan of watercolor.

There are lots of videos on YouTube if you want to make one! I just sharpened the pencil over the palette well and added water. Once it dried, it dried it was a pan. You might think it would waste your pencil, but it barely took any shavings!

WooHoo Owl

I added gel pen for variations of the colors and on the Owl Pals card, I used some of the distress embossing glaze over the eyes! Have you tried that product? They just released more colors – it is so yummy and fun to work with. It is transparent, too, so it makes a see through color - perfect for this!

The sentiment from WooHoo Owl was used with the Freakin’ Adorable stamp for the one with pink polka dots, but the hot pink owl is the WooHoo Owl. The hot pink owl was sent to an elderly friend for his birthday. Cards for men are the hardest for me, but I hope he will smile when he opens the card!

One of my custom stamps. Stay tuned - more on this later in the week!

I love the flexibility of Unity Stamp Company sets. I have so many sets that I have really started to think about how I will use them before adding more, because let’s face it, they want to be played with - not sitting in a box! There are so many to look through before I begin, which can make beginning a card challenging!

The custom stamps are the same fantastic quality as the others. I’ve ordered a few of those over the years and I always give credit on the back of my artwork if a Unity stamp is used. Check out all of the artwork I make in my shop, Mail by Michelle.
